I finally paid a visit to the legendary Toyo Izakaya near Kyobashi Station in Osaka. I’ve walked by here countless times and always saw huge crowds and didn’t know what it was until I saw him on Netflix. I am so sorry I missed this and saw him too late. Although, because of the virus, its actually possible to get a table here and interact with Mr. Toyo. I was placed right in front of him after I was asked if this was my first time. He made me feel like a regular and was great entertainment. If someone ever asked me where to go to feel the essence of Osaka, it is right here. The quality of the fish is excellent too. I ordered a sashimi dish for two and the sea urchin and Ikura (salmon eggs) were sweet and fresh. I can’t believe i’ve been here 18 years and have only come here just now for the first time. I will definitely be visiting more often and will be bringing my friends there also.
