Black Lives Matter March, Osaka

On June 7th, a Black Lives Matter March was held in Osaka. I think there was a lot of fear about what would happen because of what was happening in the U.S. at the time with all the rioting and looting but it ended up being a very peaceful day and a great example to the rest of the world how to protest peacefully. It was organized in just a matter of days but in the end about 2,000 people participated. I was quite surprised at the mixed reactions I received from live-streaming it. I am usually not an overtly political person so I wasn’t used to such a barrage of negative comments. This was also held just after the emergency declaration was lifted in Japan so there was a lot of opposition from Japanese because of the timing of the event. Read the comments for this video and you’ll see what I mean. .
